Smacks – The Frog
December 2019, I discovered that one of the drainage problems needed immediate attention. Thus, I ended moving 3300lbs of concrete and pea gravel to address the issue. While I was pouring concrete during the sleet, a wittle froggie struggled across my path. I tried to clean the frog off and set it back along its…
Steampunked!
I decided to add hints of “steampunk” at the exterior elements in order to make painting more of an exciting endeavour. Like this baby:
Exterior Paint – That Blue Color
BB Paint named my custom color “Midnight blue”–although I wanted to call it “Ninja Blue,” since it was inspired by Japanese Indigo, although it is admittedly a bit off-target on account of greenish undertones. Perhaps next time I’ll get it right and call it “Shinobi” or something. The previous color was some sorta powder gray.…
Safety Touches
I added this nifty emergency light for power outages–and embellished it with octopus tentacles–which seems to invoke the flying spaghetti monster.
Quiz Kitties
Apparently a clan of kitties has made the Quiz Cottage under areas of the shed and deck their home. The paterfamilias is “Sherbert.” His minions include “Camouflage-Cat” and Ginger-“Snap.” Apparently Sherbert was competing with “Smokey Joe” Cat for dominance. After a literal pissing contest, it seems Sherbert is in the lead. Such are the advantages…
Last-Minute Prep
I scrubbed some atrocious grease speckling from the cabinets for two hours. There were fingerprints of smudgey germs everywhere! VIE! Pfft, I reduction cook. My food leaves curry stains–generally. My cooking splatter leaves everything looking neon green. Grease stains are tedious, but curry stains are impossible. I can’t be mad–except the degreaser did not work.…
WordPress Melodrama
It took me a half an hour in order to figure out how to add sub-menus into the WordPress theme. Admittedly I haven’t toiled with web design for five years, so–I’m not up to date on a lot of new developments. Suffice it to say, I want to tear my hair out–if I didn’t have…
Glued Bear Statue
How in the world am I supposed to remove this? It was glued down onto the ground, presumably to discourage theft. I had to paint around it–which was far from successful.
Plight of the Gophers
These bad boys are in the backyard–although their activities are not confined to the backyard–which I discovered later…
Drainage Pains Oct 2019
When I acquired this property, I was not fully aware of the challenges I would confront regarding the drainage of mountainside runoff. There are four–potentially five pathways of water cutting across the property, which creates a situation compounded by the downspouts–which discharge the water accumulated form the surface area of the rooftop. Oi. Here is…
