About the Owner

Staci Goddard was born in Philadelphia in 1982. She grew up in West Oak Lane with three siblings. Her father served three campaigns in the Vietnam War as a Marine Captain. Her mother is an immigrant from Trinidad who works as a registered nurse and bakes delicious cookies (and is awesome!).

Originally Staci dreamed of becoming an astrophysicist and eventually attended Princeton University. After the first year of college, she changed her major to Classical Studies, learned Greek & Latin, and shifted her focus to ancient military history (and siege warfare). She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2004.

After saving up for three years, Staci moved to LA in order to pursue a career in video game design. Although she acquired a job at EA–she ended up a the front desk–which was a disappointment, but she made the most of it. In the interim, she self-published fantasy books and a novel while weightlifting and hiking the local mountains.

Although Staci spent several years at EA, she had little success in advancing her career. Instead she made her way up the Facilites-tract, learning project management, space-planning, corporate relocation, and events planning.

After she left EA, Staci felt inspired by the case studies and professions of various Pennsylvanians who endured ill health as a consequence of fracking. She founded a non-profit organization called Don’t Feed the Animals in order to teach best practices for environmental sustainability using art & media.

Given that this was her first rodeo in the non-profit sector, she ran out of funds in less than a year while pursuing that endeavour. On a whim, she contacted her writing partner and learned about the home inspection business–although she had to return to the corporate world for a brief stint in order to stabilize her finances.

Finally on April 4th the following year, Staci joined her business partner for training. She then started her own home inspection business. A few years later in September 2019, she purchased the Quiz Cottage in Big Bear Lake.
